Biography
Vladimirov was born in Vilno (Lithuania) in 1869. He studied at the Vilno Drawing School (1883) and in Paris at the Academy of Arts (1891-3). He was a member of the Society of Russian Watercolourists, a founding member of the Comradeship of Artists, the Kuindzhi Society (1910's), and the AKhRR in St Petersburg (1923-28).
He exhibited with the Imperial Academy of Arts, the Itinerants (1916; 1918) and the AKhRR (1923-29).
Important shows include "Fifteen Years of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army", Moscow 1933 and "Twenty Years of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army", Moscow, 1938.
He was one of the first artists to paint works inspired by the October 1917 revolution, and taught at the Petrograd/Leningrad Arts and Crafts Tekhnikum from 1922. He died in St Petersburg in 1947.
