Biography
Julius von Blaas was an Austrian painter, born in Albano, Italy, the second son of Karl, whom he studied under. He devoted himself principally to equestrian subjects, and went to Rome where he painted genre scenes from the Campagna. He was employed by the Austrian court as a portrait painter and became a professor at the Academy of Vienna.
