Biography
Alfred Gomersal Vickers was son of self-taught landscape painter Alfred Vickers (1786-1868), who exhibited 125 works at the Royal Academy (London), and was influenced by the work of the Dutch Masters. Alfred Gomersal Vickers proceeded in a similar style to his father, painting landscapes and scenes, using a comparable technique to depict skies, water, and light, the quality of which (in Alfred Vickers Senior’s work) has been compared to Boudin. Alfred Gomersal Vickers travelled to Russia in 1833, where he was sent by Charles Heath. He died at the age of 27.
