Biography
Josef Mathauser was a Czech painter who specialised in portraits, religious and historical paintings.
His most famous paintings include The Market for Slaves and Libusin court. He also worked on the decoration of the Catholic Church of the Assumption in Marienbad - Way of the Cross in 1887.
At the end of the 19th century Mathauser significantly contributed to the repainting of the religious scenes in the Holy Mountain in Pribram. He was buried at the Vinohrady Cemetery in Prague.
