Lev Felixovich Lagorio ( Feodosija 1827 - St. Petersburg 1905 )
Lev Feliksovich Lagorio studied at the Imperial Academy at Saint Petersburg under the celebrated M. N. Vorobiov and B.P. Villeval'de. Lagorio was a painter, water-colourist, and master of seascapes. His work was influenced by the artist Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky. Like Aivazovsky, Lagorio sailed with the Russian fleet and made maritime sketches of the seacoasts. In 1845 Lagorio went to a sea voyage on the Groziashchy frigate to study the arrangement of warship. He traveled along the Baltic Sea coast to paint etudes, and was sent to Vyborg and to Caucasus with the same purpose. For View on the Marsh on the Lisy Nos Cape picture he was awarded with the Great Gold Medal and the subsidized trip abroad. He visited Paris and Rome, painted in Tivoli, Olevano, Sorrento.
